My Love, My Passion, My Life Story

Dr. Pamela Greenwood Luke

I was born and raised in Petersburg, Virginia, the seventh child of two loving parents—Elder E.J. and Eula Greenwood. I graduated on time from Dinwiddie Senior High School in Dinwiddie, Virginia, and began my college journey at Norfolk State University in 1980. Due to financial circumstances, I returned home and continued my studies at Virginia State University, majoring in Social Work.

A year later, I moved to New York to start a new chapter while living with my sister and her family. Though initially overwhelmed by the pace of the big city, I eventually embraced the change—taking short train rides to church, work, and home, slowly learning to navigate my new world with courage.

Two years into my New York experience, I married and later became a mother to two sons, five years apart. Today, I’m blessed to also be a grandmother to a bright and curious six-year-old granddaughter, with whom I often use the homework strategies I’ve designed for educators and students alike.

Throughout my educational career, I set attainable, meaningful goals and remained committed to growing with purpose. One unforgettable person who helped shape my journey was Dr. Katie Davis. Since meeting me in 1980, she opened her home and heart, providing unwavering encouragement and love for my education and dreams.

Ten years ago, God planted a vision in my spirit—a program to support teachers and students alike. Two years from retirement, I continue walking in faith, trusting that this work will empower classrooms and cultivate peace. Every step has reaffirmed that when we follow God’s plan and embrace our dreams, remarkable things unfold.

It truly pays to follow your dreams—one faithful step at a time.

It began like any other year—morning check-ins, behavior plans, family meetings, and the quiet rituals of care that anchor a school community. But beneath the surface, something was shifting. The systems I had worked so hard to navigate were no longer expansive enough to hold the vision I carried.

That final year became a quiet culmination. I led my most impactful professional development sessions on trauma-informed care and SEL. I co-created branded toolkits that empowered educators and families alike. I mentored emerging social workers, helping them find their voice in spaces that often silence it.

I didn’t know it at the time, but that school year would be my last in my previous role. Throughout that year—and even years before—I witnessed dedicated teachers struggling daily. With limited support, many fought to maintain control of their classrooms and keep students engaged and focused. I found myself asking: What could I do to empower educators to experience more peace, more purpose, and more effective instruction with fewer disruptions?

In prayer, I sought God’s guidance. And He answered with clarity—not just about the topic of this work, but the pathway to build it. As I developed the framework for this program, God continued to pour wisdom into the process, offering insight that went beyond academics and into the heart of how teachers could better serve students with confidence and care.

While uploading my resume and exploring new job opportunities, I sensed His hand leading me back to this calling. The vision was growing, and now, I needed someone to bring it to life. I reached out to Joshua, a talented designer and creative mind. Though he wasn’t the right fit, he texted me shortly after with a new connection—Alex. That moment was pivotal. I reached out, and here we are.

The scripture that anchors this journey is Habakkuk 2:2: “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” This verse reminds me that the vision God gives isn’t just for us—it’s meant to be shared, seen, and understood by others who will run with it.

I’ve learned that adversity will always speak loudly—through others’ words, criticism, or doubt. But I’ve also learned something louder still: Peace. When the enemy means harm, God is always working good. I am a living witness.

“Walk in your Peace. Live your Dream”. This program is my step of faith toward both.
